Will I be penalised for going over the word limit on English A-Level coursework?

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
I’m doing the OCR (oxford, Cambridge & RSA) A level English exam and I’ve gone over my word limit.

I was 2,000 words over the limit but managed to cut it down a little thanks to footnotes.

I was just wonderiing if anyone knows whether I’ll get marked down for being over the limit? Or if the examiners stop marking once they’ve reached the maximum amount of words?
Thanks for your help!

English language or lit a-level better for performing arts uni?

Sunday, October 18th, 2009
Im currently studying AS English language and AS English literature and I need to drop one of them in a few weeks but I don’t know which one!
I want to go to university to study performing arts but I do not know which English would look better as a full A-level.
In A2 English language we study accents and idiolect’s and in A2 English literature we study gothic stories, Shakespeare and various scripts from plays.

Which would be more suitable for performing arts?

I am enroling at college TOMOROW and i was planning on taking eng lit, eng lang, religious studies and sociology – because I realise that having english lit opens a lot of doors especially for university courses. However I found it very confusing at gcse and cried after the exam because i ran out of time but fortunately i got a b. Will it be too difficult at A-Level? Should i give it a go anyway?

Why did I do less well than I could have done in English A-level and university?

Saturday, May 30th, 2009
I even found GCSEs hard. Because my GCSEs were not very good, and I was known to be a good student, mine got upgraded from their original which were mostly poor, to ABBBBBBBBD. My Alevels were AAB. To this day I don’t know why I didn’t manage an A for English A-level!
I found university tough as well and I took an aggreogated degree because I was unhappy, ill and depressed!
